Community Development Officer

Purpose:

The Community Development Officer will work as part of the Horowhenua-Kapiti cricket team to grow the community game around the region. The focus is on breaking down barriers and delivering quality cricket experiences to attract, engage and retain people in the sport (as players, coaches, administrators, or volunteers).

The key tasks are outlined below:

Activations:

·       Coordinate school and club smash play sessions.

·       Deliver awareness and promotional sessions in primary schools that connect participants to club opportunities

·       Attend community events, and club promotion days to promote cricket.

·       Deliver targeted communities’ activations and programs.

Programming:

·       Connect with the local club or school to transition program participants into local playing opportunities.

·       Attend regional training and development opportunities.

·       Modify programs where necessary to maximize involvement from targeted communities.

·       Coordinate registration of all participants via PLAY HQ.

Festival Cricket:

·       Support the recruitment of schools and teams to participate in festival cricket organised by HKCA.

·       Attend festivals to provide coach support, logistics and connection.

·       Provide administrative and logistics support where necessary.

Coach Development of game and program facilitators

·       Support junior club and primary schools and program facilitators to understand and deliver participation programs.

·       Provide training and support to junior coaches around HKCA initiatives and programmes.

·       Physical attendance and coaching support to junior clubs and primary/intermediate schools as required.

·       Engage with and attend training/meetings as part of the wider CD and New Zealand coach development team.

Relationships:

·       Continue to work in partnership with the HKCA team to develop and implement work plans and new initiatives that grow and support the game.

·       Build strong connections with primary schools and junior clubs.

Reporting:

·       This role will report to the General Manager.

·       You will report on participation and coach development plans to multiple stakeholders, as well as developing good news stories from around HK to share with boards, cricket leaders and on social media channels.
