The Cricket Express HKCA Year 11/12’s have returned from a successful CD Year 11/12 tournament in Napier. The boys went into the tournament with high hopes of making the final after beating Manawatu in the nearest neighbor fixture
Game 1 vs Hawke’s Bay
Game 1 proved to be the toughest challenge against a strong Hawkes Bay outfit. HB posted an incredible 354/6 in their 50 overs. After receiving a late call up as injury cover Ethan Money was the pick of the bowlers with 2/37 from 7 overs. The massive total proved to be too much for the lads as they fell short on 211 before they were bowled out. Opener Nic Donnelly and Captain Tristan Cloete stood tall both playing their way to 60 in a tough first game

Game 2 vs Wairarapa
After a tough loss, the boys managed to turn the tide against Wairarapa, putting on a massive 286 in their 50 overs. Captain Tristan Cloete led the way with 109 from 87 balls which included 7 6’s with a handful smashing into the roof at Nelson Park. Ollie Jessop and Otis Blake played good innings of 34 and 36*. In response Wairarapa were bowled out for 175 with Charlie Ferguson taking 4 poles and Nico Block taking 3 to secure HK a spot in the 3rd/4th playoff vs Nelson.

Game 3 vs Nelson
On the final day the boys took on what looked to be a strong Nelson side. HK were certainly up for the challenge bowling Nelson out for just 42, an incredible bowling performance, led by Nico Block with 4-3 off 3 overs. Supported by Charlie, Tristan and Max all taking 2 wickets to put HK in the box seat. HK chased down the required 42 with ease with Tristan and Nic seeing the lads over the line securing the side an impressive 3rd place finish.

Overall a strong week for the Cricket Express HKCA Year 11/12’s. A 3rd place finish, a ton and some incredible bowling performances. Well done team
A special well done to Tristan Cloete for being the 2nd top runscorer in the tournament, and Nico Block for being the 4th top wicket-taker in the tournament.
