HKCA SMASH PLAY SESSIONS

What it's about:

In our smash play sessions, we place a priority on ensuring that everyone is engaged and having a good time while simultaneously teaching kids the fundamental abilities needed for a wide range of sports and everyday tasks, including decision-making for learning, throwing for cricket, catching for baseball, and more. Additionally, we place a lot of emphasis during these sessions on the value of teamwork and how crucial it is to uphold principles like honesty, support, and cooperation.

How the Programme works:

Once you have returned your enrolment form and confirmed you will participate in the Programme, your school will need to pick up to 10 children per smash session that you have chosen to opt in for (please note the year 3/4 and 5/6 smash sessions are not optional). The two smash groups that are optional are the girls smash group and year 7/8 smash group. If your school chooses to opt in for all 4 smash groups you cannot have any more than 40 participants for the smash play Programme. Each smash group will get up to 4 40-minute sessions which will be available over term 4 and 1. If we have access to the school hall then these lessons will be run rain or shine.

HKCA SMASH PLAY FESTIVAL

What it’s about:

Following on from the smash play sessions the Smashies will have the opportunity to put their skills on show and participate in an all-inclusive smash play festival. The goal of this event is for children to enjoy themselves, get active, and not have to worry about their abilities, winning, or losing.

How the festival works:

All of the Smash Play participating schools and any other schools that might have missed out on the Programme will participate in a round robin series. Teams will compete in an 8-aside pairs smash game that lasts no longer than an hour. Games will take place in Term 1 on a Monday or Tuesday in the months of February to March. After the final Smash game, we'll have a BBQ with food, drinks, and a small prize giving
